10 parking lots for 5 thousand cars will be built in Astana, Tengrinews.kz reports citing head of Astana Department of Passenger Transport and Car Roads Rashid Amanzhulov. “The plan is to build 10 parking lots with the total capacity of 4,950 cars to provide a new administrative center of the capital with parking spots. Feasibility study is in process for parking lots for three priority facilities (Ministry of Transport and Communications, Supreme Court and Dostyk),” Astana administration states. According to the city administration’s press-service, the authorities are currently ready to start construction of one parking lot next to Defense Ministry (Dostyk street). The project is worth 2.4 billion tenge ($16 million). Astana administration is also developing a project on the paid parking lots along with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). “The total cost of the project will make around 2.25 billion tenge ($15 million). EBRD will provide 1.8 billion ($12 million) of them for procurement and installation of the equipment. Astana administration’s participation is estimated at 20 percent of the total cost of the project, i.e. 450 million tenge ($3 million),” the press-service writes. This project will cover 25 city streets (including Seifullin, Valikhanov, Barayev, Republic, Saryarka, Kunayev, Orynbor, Syganak and Turkestan streets) and provide the total area for parking of 20 thousand cars.
