All EXPO-2017 facilities to work on renewable energy

Kazakhstan Prime-Minister has instructed that all the EXPO-2017 facilities use power generated from alternative energy sources, Tengrinews.kz reports. "It is necessary to consider supplying power generated from alternative energy sources to the EXPO-2017 facilities. We already see that they are ways to do it. I think that by 2017 we will have many interesting project not only around Astana, but inside Astana as well. There is one million solar roofs in America and hundreds of thousands of them in Germany. We have to review a pilot project for Astana. Yes, the regions can adopt such programs as well. I think it will be very interesting," Serik Akhmetov said at the government meeting. Besides, he instructed Minister of Industry and New Technologies to work jointly with Environmental Protection Minister to develop amendments for the law on renewable energy sources. "Issekeshev and Kapparov have to work jointly with other involved state authorities and complete the amendments to the law on renewable energy sources and develop all the required bylaws by the end of the fist half of the year," he said. According to the Minister of Industry and New Technologies, 50 projects in renewable energy will the launched in Kazakhstan in the nearest 2 years and will be completed by 2020. "All the implemented projects in the sector have to be summarized and the Ministry of Industry has to work jointly with Samruk-Energy to assess the applied technologies.
