During the official visit of the Deputy Secretary of Energy Daniel Poneman to Astana, Kazakhstan and the United States agreed to deepen energy cooperation, Tengrinews reports citing Novosti-Kazakhstan.
Poneman met with Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Massimov, Minister of Industry and New Technologies Asset Issekeshev, Minister of Foreign Affairs Yerlan Idrissov, Minister of Oil and Gas Uzakbai Karabalin, Minister of Environment and Water Resources Nurlan Kapparov and the CEO of KazMunaiGas Saurat Mynbayev.
“In the course of the meeting, they once again acknowledged adherence to the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and the United States, noting their intensive interaction in oil and gas, nuclear security, electric power, renewable energy and energy efficiency, ” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
In addition, the parties outlined a new plan for cooperation in green economy and in particular, in preparations for the EXPO-2017 and Kazakhstan’s initiative Green Bridge.
They agreed to continue the dialogue at all levels and strive to deepen and expand Kazakh-American relations in energy industry.
