A $70 million solar power plant will be built in Astana for the upcoming EXPO-2017, Tengrinews reports citing the Managing Director of the Directorate for Preparation and Organization of EXPO-2017 Mukhtar Gazizov.
“We are working on the 50 MW solar power plant plan project,” Gazizov said at the meeting of the EXPO-2017 participants.
The solar power plant will be constructed within the limits of the city on 125 hectares. The project will be funded through private investments. According to Gazizov, the project requires $70 million.
“The launch of the power plant is scheduled to the first quarter of 2015. Today, we are working on allocation of land for the solar power plant. Kazakh content (participation of Kazakhstani suppliers of goods and services) in the project is prioritized. Solar modules will be supplied by the Astana Solar LLP,” Gazizov said.
The EXPO-2017 master plan was also presented during the meeting in Astana.
