According to him, the attackers steal Telegram accounts from users and then send their contacts a subscription to Telegram Premium, a privileged version of the messenger, as a gift.
"Then there is a link similar to the messenger link. Clicking on it can lead to hacking of the account with consequences in the form of theft of money and personal data. But you can also lose your Telegram account. Having captured it, the scammers, on behalf of the user, send requests to transfer money to a bank card generated by them," the expert explained.
It is also possible that the scammers will use two- and three-stage fraud schemes. After losing an account in one of the messengers, pseudo-law enforcement officers call the victim with this information, offering to immediately "save" accounts, transfer money, take out mirror loans and sell their homes.
"Be vigilant, misfortunes can begin with an ill-considered click on just one link. In the case of a gift in the form of a premium subscription, do not be lazy, call the generous donor on a regular phone. If he is not indicated as the sender of the gift, then this is a scam," Solovyov warned.
Earlier, the Prosecutor's Office of Kyzylorda Region, using the AI-driven IT TERGEU project, has uncovered thefts amounting to hundreds of millions of tenge.
