Medical blunder of the Mendykary Central Hospital led sorrowful parents to almost bury their baby girl alive, Tengrinews reports citing Nasha Gazeta. On March 6, a baby girl was prematurely delivered at the hospital in Kostanay Oblast. The doctors declared the child to be stillborn. They packed her into a box and gave her to the parents. The grieving parents were going to bury their child when the father noticed that she was still alive. He immediately brought her back to the hospital. But it was too late. “The child died there after three days. The prosecutor’s office has initiated a criminal case. The investigation is underway. I believe additional comments are needless,” the Prosecutor of Kostanay Oblast Marat Kaibzhanov said. 12 criminal cases opened over different medical blunders in 2013. But according to Kaibzhanov, only 3 of those cases have been finished so far, the other have been suspended. But this new case has upped the priority of all those medial cases and instructions have been issued for the cases to be completed before the end of this month. Various sanctions have been applied to the doctors who failed to realize that the baby was alive. Some of them have been fined, others fired after the hospital conducted its own investigation into the tragic incident, Marina Gizbreht, Chief Doctor of the Mendykary Central Hospital, told Tengrinews. The head doctor said that the baby was delivered in their hospital on March 6 and showed no vital signs. "After two hours after her birth she was returned to the parents on their request. On the way from the hospital the baby started showing signs of life. The parents brought her to the regional children's hospital. On March 9 she died," Mrs Gizbreht said.
