A new highly effective flu vaccine will be used in Kazakhstan starting from next year, Tengrinews.kz reports citing senior sanitary doctor Zhandarbek Bekshin. “We have been using a triple vaccine this year and next year we will get a quadruple one. It has one more B strain that circulates nowadays added,” Bekshin said. Besides, according to Bekshin, the length of the syringe needle for vaccine release will change from 1.5 cm to 1.5-2 mm. That means that the vaccine will be made not intramuscularly but intradermally, which ensures a better effect. “The immunity will be developed quickly and it will be strong, i.e. the efficiency will be higher,” he said. According to the country’s senior sanitary doctor, 10 percent of the population (1.3 million people) have been vaccinated against flu since the beginning of the 2012-2013 epidemiological season.
