Tengrinews.kz - Kazakhstan continues to work on a vaccine against coronavirus. This was announced today by the Minister of Health Akmaral Alnazarova.
"We had a unique coronavirus vaccine that was much talked about. We applied to the World Health Organisation for its registration, but WHO did not approve it. Four years have passed and we don't know whether the plant for its production is working and whether this vaccine exists?," asked jouranists during the briefing.
As stated by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan Akmaral Alnazarova, additional conditions are required for the registration of the Kazakhstani vaccine. She also noted that now the vaccine is not produced in the same volumes as before.
“This issue is on our radar as WHO was reviewing the application. But in order to certify and register it, we need additional conditions. These works are underway now, so the issue is not off the agenda,” Alnazarova said.
Journalists asked the minister how relevant the registration of Kazakhstan's vaccine is now that the coronavirus pandemic has already ended.
"Coronavirus still exists and the vaccine is needed to fight new strains. We will continue working on its registration. There are no specific deadlines for completing the registration," Alnazarova answered.
