Every third woman over 50 years old out of the 4000 women who underwent medical examination has a breast cancer or a precancerous lesion, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Aybek Manabayev, National Healthcare Development Center head. “Every third Astana female citizen of over 50 years old from among those who underwent medical tests suffers precancerous lesion or breast cancer, according to the results of the screening examinations that were held in the first five months of the year. More than 4000 women were examined during this period and this number is 8,6% higher compared to the same period of 2011. The medical personnel exposed disorders in 28.9% of the cases, in the other words, 1209 women suffer precancerous lesion or breast cancer. Last year the rate made 16.5%. The major part of the patients (995 women – 82.3%) have been registered for regular medical check-ups and they will need to continue regular medical check-up from now on,” Aybek Manabayev said. He also added that more women aged from 50 to 60 years were invited for screening examinations this year. According to the press-service chief, every tenth woman aged from 30 to 60 years out of the total number of the examined women suffers cervical cancer. 5676 women have undergone medical examination. The ontological pathology has been discovered in 10,4% cases (593 women). The major part of these women (472 patients) will have to undergo a regular medical check-up from now on. “The medical personnel is once again appealing to all the citizens to take medical tests on a timely basis and to take part in such screening procedures,” he said.
