700 quotas have been provided by the government for in vitro fertilization (IVF) in Kazakhstan in 2013, Director of Repuroductive Medicine Tamara Dzhussubaliyeva told Tengrinews.kz.

"The number of quotas are increasing every year. 100 quotas were allocated in 2010, then 350 and 600 in the following years. The plan is to have 700 quotas in 2013," Dzhussubaliyeva said.

The age restriction for participants of the program was canceled in 2012. Before that, only women under 35 years old were eligible for the IVF quotas. "Now all the women of reproductive age can apply for a IVF. The only requirement is that the ovaries reserve is retained," the doctor said.

According to Dzhussubaliyeva, 160 thousand young people are getting married annually and 20 thousand of the couples are afetal. The number remains the same and no tangible progress has been recorded. The situation in Kazakhstan neither improves or deteriorates.

She also added that there are no problems with surrogate mothers in Kazakhstan. "We are now frequently seeing the situations when the clients' relatives become their surrogate mothers. Meanwhile, there is still a deficit of sperm donors," Dzhussubaliyeva noted. It was reported earlier that it will be impossible to find a healthy sperm donor in Kazakhstan in 20 years, if the current ecological situation doesn't improve. There is a large deficit of healthy men.
