6 cases of imported Dengue fever registered in Kazakhstan 26 июля 2013, 12:20

6 imported cases of Dengue fever have been registered in Kazakhstan since the beginning of the year, Tengrinews.kz reports citing chairman of the State Sanitary-Epidemiological Control of Kazakhstan Healthcare Ministry Zhandarbek Bekshin. “It is a holiday season now. Many citizens of our country spend their vacations abroad. In this relation, we are concerned by the situation in Thailand, where around 40 thousand cases of Dengue fever have been registered. We had 6 cases of this infection imported to Kazakhstan since the beginning of the year. All these cases were imported by infected citizens of Almaty,” Bekshin said at the briefing. According to him, four of the infected Kazakhstan citizens were detected at the sanitary-control points in Almaty airport and 2 cases were discovered by primary healthcare doctors. He also stressed that Dengue fever is an extremely dangerous infection that is considered a quarantine infection.
