According to CBS News, Naomi Whitehead, who lives in a nursing home, received this status after Elizabeth Francis of Texas died on October 22.
Whitehead, who claims to have never smoked or drunk alcohol, was born in September 1910 on a farm in Georgia and outlived her husband and three sons. She attributes her longevity to good genetics and hobbies such as cooking, baking, drawing, and listening to music.
According to Yahoo, another common trait among many supercentenarians is religiosity. Research shows that it can provide a sense of purpose and socializing with like-minded people, which is associated with longevity. Naomi Whitehead also explained in an interview that religion is important to her.
In addition, in an interview with YouTuber Jack Gordon, Naomi Whitehead said that perhaps her main advice is to "work hard." Whitehead worked on a farm for many years, plowing fields and picking cotton and tobacco, always on the move.
