Tengrinews.kz - A new Instagram feature aimed at boosting teen safety will soon be available, allowing Kazakhstani parents to better monitor and manage their children’s digital activity, according to the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry.
The update was announced during a meeting in Astana between Minister of Digital Development Zhaslan Madiyev and Meta’s Vice President Dr. Simon Milner.
Meta introduced the new “Teen Accounts” feature designed for users under the age of 16. The tool enables parents to take a more active role in their children's online experience by controlling profile visibility, filtering harmful content, and automatically blocking offensive language in comments and messages.
Additional safety features include turning off notifications at night and setting daily time limits on app usage.
According to Milner, the update is based on expert recommendations in child and digital safety and is aimed at strengthening protections for teenagers on Instagram.
The ministry said the new feature will be rolled out in the near future.
