Economic indexes are signaling an improvement in the people’s lives, Tengrinews.kz reports citing chairman of Kazakhstan Statistics Agency Alikhan Smailov. “People’s lives have improved. Their incomes have increased and the unemployment level has gone down. Production has increased in the country as well and the last year’s GDP growth rate made 7.5 percent and reached 27.3 trillion tenge ($184.5 billion). It equals to $11,245 per capita,” Alikhan Smailov said. He also gave the latest unemployment data. “General unemployment level made 5.4 percent in Q4 2011. During the past 11 years unemployment rate has almost halved. Last year we had 477 thousand unemployed, where as there were 780 thousand unemployed in 2001,” he expanded.
