Tengrinews.kz – A French court has eased restrictions on Telegram founder Pavel Durov, according to Le Monde.
Durov is now allowed to leave France for a maximum of 14 consecutive days, starting July 10.
However, he is permitted to travel only to Dubai, where his close relatives reside and Telegram’s offices are located.
In addition, he is required to notify the investigating judge in advance of any planned departure.
It is noted that Durov filed a petition to lift judicial supervision on June 3.
As a reminder, in May, a court denied Durov’s request to travel to Norway, where he was invited to speak at the Oslo Freedom Forum 2025. He had been scheduled to share insights on freedom of speech, surveillance, and digital rights with a global community of human rights advocates. Despite being banned from attending in person, Durov still spoke at the forum online.
Telegram’s founder was detained in France in August 2024. After being charged on six counts, including refusing to hand over data in response to official requests, he was released on bail. In spring 2025, with court approval, he left France and returned to the UAE.
