Tengrinews.kz - The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has issued a new bulletin regarding Russia's airspace.

The document, published on Thursday on the organization's website, expands upon the recommendations previously issued by EASA.

According to the document, airlines are advised to avoid flights in Russian airspace west of the 60th meridian of eastern longitude. This includes Moscow, Rostov-on-Don, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, and Samara.

"The recommendation also applies to foreign air carriers that have received a safety authorization from EASA (Third-Country Operators)," the document states.

The recommendation is valid until July 31, 2025, but may be revised depending on updated safety assessments and threats.

"EASA, in cooperation with the European Commission, will continue to closely monitor the situation, to assess the risk exposure for EU and third-country operators conducting flights to/from the European Union (EU)," the document explains.

The agency reminded that no EU airline is currently flying over Russian airspace. However, some carriers from third countries continue to use it despite the risks.

Earlier, some international airlines suspended flights to Russian cities. For example, Flydubai announced the extension of the suspension of flights from Dubai to Mineralnye Vody and Sochi. It is worth noting that the Kazakh airline Qazaq Air has also suspended some flights to Russia. The carrier announced the temporary suspension of flights on the Astana – Yekaterinburg route.
