Tengrinews.kz – The snow leopard – a rare and elusive predator – has once again been captured on a camera trap. This time, it was recorded in the Kolsai Lakes National Park.
The park continues its wildlife monitoring program. Specialists place cameras in remote areas to track the movement and behavior of mountain animals in order to preserve the region’s biodiversity and protect endangered species.
The video is short but captivating: the snow leopard doesn’t look at the camera — it simply walks its path, graceful and focused.
“No rush, no fear — only the confidence of a true mountain ruler,” Kazakhstani users wrote in the comments.

These graceful predators continue to live in the wilds of southern Kazakhstan. Their presence is not only rare but also a crucial indicator of the ecosystem’s health.
Where else the snow leopard was spotted this year
At the end of April, the “lord of the mountains” was captured by a camera trap in Sairam-Ugam National Park in the Turkestan region — this was already its second appearance there this year.
Since the beginning of 2025, there have been six recorded sightings of snow leopards across various national parks and nature reserves in the country.
Leopards and lynxes on camera
Earlier, rare footage from the Kolsai Lakes National Park also showed a snow leopard and a Turkestan lynx with cubs. In one video, the leopard walks slowly across snowy Tien Shan slopes; in another, a lynx with three kittens explores its territory.
