Tengrinews.kz – Space telescopes operating in orbit have recorded one of the most massive plasma ejections from the Sun in recent years.

This was reported by the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute (IKI) and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics (ISTP) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

It was noted that an exceptionally large plasma ejection occurred during the day on Sunday.

"At present, it has been established that the unusually large and dense plasma cloud was formed as a result of the destabilization of a giant solar prominence located on the far side of the Sun and therefore not observable from Earth," the report stated.

It was also mentioned that the ejection will remain within the field of view of space-based instruments for about another day, which will allow scientists to more accurately determine its trajectory.

"Currently, it is believed that the plasma is moving at a very large angle relative to the direction of Earth—possibly even in the opposite direction," added the Solar Astronomy Laboratory.

It was also noted that the Sun continues to demonstrate significant reserves of explosive energy. Following a recent large ejection that caused the longest series of geomagnetic storms since 2017, this is already the second event of such scale within 10 days. This time, the risk of impact on Earth is almost ruled out. Scientists promise to publish precise calculations soon.
