Tengrinews.kz – Speaking at a meeting on the development of Astana, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said it is necessary to accelerate the formation of a modern waste recycling system, citing Akorda.
The Head of State noted that such projects are already being actively developed in Astana, Almaty and Shymkent. They envisage the disposal of up to 1,500 tons of waste per day, with simultaneous electricity generation. In total, more than 40 waste utilization projects are planned across the country.
“All of them must be launched properly and on time. It is also important to pay attention to the development of sorting capacities and landfill sites. International experience shows that postponing these issues leads to serious environmental problems and affects people’s quality of life. Therefore, the government should take comprehensive measures in this area,” Tokayev instructed.
