Three injured in oil refinery fire in western Kazakhstan

A fire occurred at an oil refinery in Aktobe Oblast on July 16, Tengrinews reports.

According to Askar Tuleshev, Head of the fire control department of Aktobe Oblast Emergency Services, the incident was reported on July 16 at 10:06 pm. The fire occurred in Mugaldzhar district at one of Vernal Oil Kazakhstan LLP oil refineries.

The mini-refinery was caught on fire after an outbreak in a 5000 cubic meter oil reservoir. According to the rescue services, the area on fire reached 380 square meters.

"19 pieces of equipment were sent to the sight, 86 people participated in extinguishing the fire, while the total number of people involved in the operation made 101," the Department reported.

The fire was eliminated at 03:25 am. It was prevented from spreading to nearby tanks with gasoline, fuel and oil.

Three employees of Vernal Oil Kazakhstan suffered burns in the fire. They were hospitalized with various degrees of burns - from 15 to 40 percent of their bodies.
