Several apartments of a 5-storey house have fallen through the floor into the basement in Atyrau in western Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of Atyrau oblast administration. The building’s residents are being urgently evacuated. At night on December 22 the first floor in the building at Sardaryinskaya street immersed and a day later four apartments collapsed into the basement. A commission led by Atyrau Akim (Mayor) Serik Aidarbekov was formed to work at the accident site. The experts are deciding whether to declared the building's condition an emergency one or it can be restored. The press-service says that the building used to be a dormitory for a local chemical plant's employees. It was abandoned for some time and then it was privatized by the residents.
