Toyota Land Cruiser Prado has fallen off the bridge at the crossing of Ryskulov and Rozybakiyev streets in Almaty, Auto.lafa.kz reports. The accident happened on June 18.
According to the Road Police Department of Almaty Interior Department, a 52-y.o. man was driving the offroader westwards on Ryskulov street. At the crossing with Kuderin street the car smashed the fencing and fell of the bridge. The man was delivered to the city hospital No.7.
The circumstances of the accident are being identified. Road police officers are working at the accident site.
This is not the first bridge falling incident on Almaty roads. Mercedes and Subaru cars smashed into each other and fell off Burundai bridge onto the railroad below on July 13, 2010. The cars caught fire after the fall. The Emergency Situations Ministry’s personnel arrived at the accident site and quenched the fire that spread to the area of 10 square meters. Train movement on the Almaty-Burundai section was suspended because of the accident and resumed only 4 hours later.
