Virtually every 7th flight was delayed in Kazakhstan airports in January-October 2012. The overall frequency of flights went 3% up compared to the same period last year, Newskaz.ru reports citing Kazakhstan Ministry of Transport and Communications. “Kazakhstan’s flights frequency made 87.3% in 10 months of 2012. The country’s airports served 46,015 flights. 5,818 of them were delayed. Compared to the same period of last year, the flights frequency increased by 3%,” the message states. The main reasons for delays still lay in late arrivals of flights, weather conditions in airports and technical failures of aircrafts. According to deputy chairman of the civil aviation commission of Kazakhstan Ministry of Transport and Communications Serik Mukhtybayev, the Ministry performs a daily monitoring of flights frequency to increase flights accuracy in Kazakhstan. Besides, the Ministry developed a draft Law On amendments to certain legislative acts on transport that lays out measures to enhance air carrier’s responsibility for flights delays.
