Burning of crude oil in one of the shops caused fire at Shymkent oil refinery, RIA Novosti reports citing Arman Assibekov, head of press-service of South Kazakhstan oblast Department of Emergency Situations. “The fire happened at the territory of LK-6U shop, section 100, furnace P-101 and covered the area of around 15 square meters. Crude oil heating furnace is the facility is 30 meter long, 50 wide meters, 20 meters high. The crude oil caught fire after a damage of the oil pipeline; the fire was 10 meters high,” Assibekov said. Earlier a href="http://en.tengrinews.kz" target="_blank">Tengrinews.kz English reported that the fire at Shymkent oil refinery started at 02:30 p.m. on February 6. No casualties were reported. The scale of damage is being defined.
