Tengrinews.kz - A 9-year-old boy in Almaty fell on iron rods, he received severe injuries to his face and neck.

The incident occurred on August 1, 2024, at the intersection of Boltirik Sheshan and Stanislavsky Streets. The child was riding his bicycle when he collided with a metal fence topped with sharp iron spikes near a pharmacy.

"Egor fell face-first onto the spikes, sustaining multiple injuries. He underwent surgery yesterday, with damage to his larynx, palate, jaw, and a cut to his cheek. He is currently in the intensive care unit," said the boy's grandmother, Margarita Malashina.

As reported in the Emergency Medical Services for Children of Almaty, a child born in 2015 was brought by an emergency brigade of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. His condition was assessed as extremely serious.

"As a result of the injury, the child's trachea, thyroid gland, mobility of the lower jaw on the right side and cheek mucosa on the right side were seriously damaged. It took surgeons 1.5 hours to remove part of the metal fence in an emergency," said doctor Aida Urazaeva.

As doctors reported, today the child has been transferred to a specialised department, where he continues to be treated and all necessary therapy is carried out. His condition is assessed as stable.

The boy’s family is urging local authorities to remove the dangerous fence to prevent future accidents involving other children.
