Akim (Mayor) of Almaty Akhmetzhan Yessimov instructed head of Almaty Interior Department Yerlan Turgumbayev to develop a concept for setting up foreign language trainings in the Department, Tengrinews.kz reports. “The police officers have to learn foreign languages to make our city a tourist center. Please work on this issue,” the Akim told the head of Interior Department. In his turn, Turgumbayev noted that 52 graduates of Abylai khan Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages were hired by law-enforcement authorities for Asian Winter Games. Turgumbayev stated that the issue of languages was a pressing one and would be developed. Almaty administration held a meeting on development of tourism in the country. The meeting is attended by the city Akim, presidents of Almaty airport, Air Astana, Kazakhstan Tourist Organization, heads of departments of tourism, culture, passenger transport and roads.
