Tengrinews.kz - Vice Minister of Education Edil Ospan reported on changes in school meals.
According to him, the department reviewed the nutrition standards in school canteens.
"We reviewed the nutrition standards in schools. The changes concerned the reduction of sugar and salt in dishes. Also, carbonated drinks, products with a high sugar content and caffeinated drinks, which can negatively affect the health of children, have been excluded from the children's menu," Ospan said on the sidelines of the Palace of Schoolchildren before the start of the department's board meeting.
In addition, according to him, new standards for organizing school meals are being developed together with the Ministry of Health and international specialists.
"They provide that from the new academic year, health specialists will be engaged in the implementation of promising models for organizing meals in schools," the vice minister added.
