Staged robbery fails in Astana

A worker of a company tried to stage a robbery, Tengrinews reports citing the Department of the Interior Affairs (DIA) of Astana.

A call center of the Astana DIA received a call from a delivery driver of one of the city’s companies. He reported that he was beaten and robbed near Anvar shopping center. The robber alegedly took a bag with $5500 and disappeared. But not for very long.

Policemen arrested a 23 y.o. unemployed man who later gave a confessionary statement that he and the driver planned to stage the robbery.

The driver admitted his guilt. Both criminals have been arrested and are currently in a temporary detention facility of the DIA. The investigation remains ongoing to find whether there were other participants. The DIA opened a criminal case.
