KazAgroFinance is filing a lawsuit against Austrian supplier of sick cattle to Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports from the briefing in the Agriculture Ministry. “The batch of supplied cattle consisted of two parts: the first part includes the cattle purchased via KazAgroFinance and the second part is represented by 22 cows bought independently by one of the farms. That’s why there will be 2 judicial procedures. KazAgroFinance has prepared the documents and is already filing a lawsuit,” Vice-Minister of Agriculture Gulmira Issayev said at the briefing. “The farm is filing a lawsuit as the entity that purchased 22 cows independently, i.e. the 22 cows will be an addition to the 700 cows declared in the lawsuit of KazAgroFinance. We has suggested the farm follows all the legal procedures together with us, as this is the same issue with the same technical documents. All the explanations were made and all materials related to results of researches were submitted. This will give KazAgroFinance a chance to reasonably protect its position in court,” she noted. Earlier Tengrinews.kz English reported that over 700 elite Simmental cows purchased from Austria had to be exterminated at Poltavskoye and Leonov farms in North-Kazakhstan oblast. Schmallenberg virus and virus diarrhea were the reasons of the extermination. Later Kazakhstan Agriculture Ministry accused Austrian veterinary services of negligence. Several days later the Austrian party refuted the Ministry’s statement and denied that any of the exported animals were sick. Later the Kazakhstan government agreed to pay the farmers for the exterminated cows. By Altynai Zhumzhumina
