A citizen of the Czech Republic was robbed in Astana by three unemployed local men who were waiting for her near a currency exchange, Tengrinews reports. “At around five o’clock in the evening, a citizen of the Czech Republic exchanged a large sum of money at one of the currency exchange bureaus and returned back in Skoda. Before she could pull away, a masked man got into the car. He grabbed her handbag with the money and her personal belongings and fled the crime scene, ” said the report. The police arrived quickly took her reports and managed to identify the three suspects. Within a short period of time the police tracked the robbers and arrested them. They still had the stolen things. The criminals are all 20-22 years old. They are unemployed and have recently come to the capital from different areas of the country. They confessed that on that day they were awaiting for a chance to commit a robbery. When they saw the woman who was exchange a large sum in the currency exchange they decided to rob her. After grabbing her handbag and fleeing form the crime scene, the three friends divided 350 thousand tenge among themselves and one of them took the cellphone they found in her handbag. The criminals were put in a temporary detention facility of the Astana Interior Department. A criminal case was initiated over the robbery (Article 178 of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan). The investigation is underway.
