According to the children's ombudsman Dinara Zakiyeva, the investigation into the fact of committing acts of a sexual nature against a minor has been underway since April this year.
"On the fact of rape of the girl is carried out pre-trial investigation. A relative of the victim has been recognised as a suspect. The suspect is a relative of the victim. Other information on the basis of the Criminal Procedural Code is not subject to disclosure," said children's ombudsman Zakiyeva.
The sanction of the article "Rape of a minor", under which a pre-trial investigation is being conducted, provides for life imprisonment.
According to Pavlodar Oblast Health Department, the patient was admitted to the perinatal centre on 19 July and gave birth on 20 July. The condition of mother and child is assessed as satisfactory.
It was previously reported that a 12-year-old schoolgirl became pregnant after being raped and gave birth to a baby girl. The young mother will turn 13 next month.
