Tengrinews.kz – Two residents of Astana organized an illegal migration channel for foreigners into the capital. The court recently handed down sentences, the city prosecutor’s office reported.

The two individuals provided fake documents and knowingly false information to authorized bodies, allowing foreigners to illegally obtain permanent residence rights. They received monetary compensation for these illegal services.

"The defendants admitted their guilt. Considering all circumstances, the court sentenced them to 1 year and 6 months and 2 years of imprisonment, respectively," the prosecutor’s office said.

Illegal proceeds totaling approximately 60 million tenge were also seized, including $100,000, 2.5 million tenge, and 200,000 rubles.

The Astana Prosecutor’s Office reminded that organizing illegal migration carries a penalty of up to 7 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Earlier this summer, police uncovered a criminal scheme at one of Astana’s educational institutions, where two staff members issued fake enrollment invitations for more than 68 foreign citizens.
