Zhomart Yertayev, a Kazakh businessman and consultant of Bank RBK Directors Board is purchasing a 50 percent stake in Alma TV company, Kazakhstan’s leading cable TV operator, Tengrinews reports citing the press service of the company. The deal is expected to be completed in the near future.

Zhomart Yertayev, a Kazakh businessman and consultant of Bank RBK Directors Board is purchasing a 50 percent stake in Alma TV company, Kazakhstan’s leading cable TV operator, Tengrinews reports citing the press service of the company. The deal is expected to be completed in the near future.

Besides, Yertayev was appointed Director Gerenal of Alma TV company. “Today, Alma-TV is the leader among cable TV operators in Kazakhstan and a significant player at the data transmission market. However, the growth potential of both the company and the market as a whole are far from being exhausted. In the next few years, the company will be transformed into a general telecommunications operator and its geographical coverage will no loner be limited to Kazakhstan’s territory,” Zhomart Yertayev said.

He added that the company would be developing its infrastructure and expanding its presence at the market to introduce the people of Kazakhstan to a new level of quality of services and significantly increase its market share in other sought after telecommunication services. “We understand that telecommunications is one of the driving forces of today's economy and we intend to become a big player in this sector,” Zhomart Yertayev said.

Zhomart Yertayev was born in 1972 in Zhambul district of Almaty Oblast. Currently, he is the President of the Eurasian Center for Financial Consulting and also a consultant of the Board of Directors of Bank RBK.

Yertayev used to hold several managerial positions in Kazakhstan’s banking sector, including that of chairman of Alliance Bank, BTA Bank (Ukraine) and Eurasian Bank. During five years of his chairmanship in Alliance Bank, the bank turned into one of the backbone banks of Kazakhstan, becoming the country’s 5th bank by assets in 2007.

Apart from his professional activities, Yertayev is also famous for his proactive attitude. He was among the initiators of the idea of state-private partnership in Kazakhstan's banking sector in 2005.
