Tengrinews.kz - According to the Ministry of Transport, the construction of supports and the installation of metal structures for the bridge over the Bukhtarma Reservoir in East Kazakhstan has been fully completed.
The Bukhtarma Reservoir is the largest in Kazakhstan and ranks among the top ten largest artificial water bodies in the world, covering an area of 5,490 square kilometers, including Lake Zaysan. It was formed by the Bukhtarma Hydroelectric Power Station dam on the Irtysh River.
The ministry announced that 60% of the bridge's roadway and 40% of the access roads, stretching a total of 19.9 kilometers, have already been paved with asphalt concrete.
"It is planned to open the bridge to vehicular traffic at the end of next month. Before the opening, specialists from the Ministry of Transport will conduct necessary testing on the bridge. This road bridge, designed for two lanes of traffic, will be the longest bridge over water in Kazakhstan, measuring 1,316 meters in length, with a capacity of up to 80,000 vehicles per year," said Lyazzat Stamagzieva, the official representative of the Ministry of Transport.
