Kazakhstan-made executive class cars were presented in Astana, Tengrinews.kz reports. SsangYong Chairman costs $60 thousand and is assembled in Agromashholding plant in Kostanai in cooperation with AllurAuto. The cars with 3.2 or 3.6 liter engines have 225 and 250 horse power, correspondingly. All cars are 4-wheel drive. They are equipped with 7-stage automatic transmission 7G Tronic. The fuel consumption is 14.2 liters per 100 km in the city. It is furbished with 10 airbags tol secure the driver and the passengers in case of a traffic accident. Back seats are equipped with masseurs and ventilation. The interior is made of leather and wood. According to Director General of AllurAuto Andrei Lavrentyev, his company was the first company that acted on the instructions of Kazakhstan President to switch the officials to Kazakhstan-made cars. "The paradox of Korean car-makers is that the size of their cars is equal to S-class, such as Mercedes, Audi, BMW, while the cost is equal to E-class. We are not positioning ourselves as S-class. This car will be positioned as E-class in Kazakhstan," Lavrentyev said. The most important advantage of this car, according to him, is that it is manufactured in Kazakhstan and that it offers comfort for small money. The presentation was attended by potential buyers. For example, Majilis deputy and leader of Ak Zhol party Azat Peruashev is confident that this is only the beginning and Kazakhstan car-makers are capable of winning the market of the whole Common Economic Space, but the manufacturers need government support. "There is a need for the real under the Accelerated Industrial-Innovative Development Program, including the subsidies. Loans for the cars should be made more affordable through the government subsidies, as it is done in Europe and Russia, issues related to customs clearance in EU should be resolves as well as taxation issues. These cars are assembled in Kazakhstan, but it is clear that with the current size of the market and with the current attitude of the state authorities who are just beginning to turn their faces to the locally produced cars, their market is not very big, of course. But with a good support they can win the whole market from Ural to Far East. Nobody makes such cars there," Peruashev said. Chairman of AgroMashHolding Din Kim also counts on the state support. "We have a few plants and we have to beat Russia's competition. The most important is to let us spread our wings and we will compete," Kim said. Vice-Minister of Industry and New Technologies Albert Rau is ready to switch to the back seat of the Chairman even now and will not hesitate to replace his Mercedes with the Kazakhstan-made car. "Any country supports its manufacturers. Even though it is a very small initiative, but it is still a push and support. I hope there will be big sales of all models. Today we have seen a car that can be used by ministers or any other managers of the central bodies," Albert Rau said. In general Kazakhstan car-manufacturing industry, according to Rau, is experiencing a surge in sales that gives it confidence in implementation of the projects of Kazakhstan car manufacturers. First of all, these are the plants in East-Kazakhstan oblast and Kostanai. The latter is seriously aiming to reach the capacity of several tens of thousands of cars a year and supply the cars to CIS and the whole Central Asia. As of today nobody have bought a Chairman in Kazakhstan, but the company already has 35 orders. The buyers include national companies, subsoil users and private clients. The private clients make the majority of the orders: 70 percent. The car is adapted for Kazakhstan's climate. Heavy frosts made the manufacturers replace the ignition plugs, transmission oil and HPS; the capacity of the battery and the petrol tank were increased. The manufacturer gives a warranty of 3 years or 100 thousand km and dealer service in 12 regions of Kazakhstan.
