Kostanay car-makers want Kazakhstan ministers to switch to SsangYong Chairman, Tengrinews.kz reports. “President gave an instruction to all our officials to switch to Kazakhstan-made cars. President personally tested the car at the plant in Kostanay. We have released a new SsangYong Chairman model for top officials and our ministers. The car is equipped with a TV-set and masseurs. KazMunaiService was the first company to act upon the President’s instruction: they bought 6 cars, including one for their chairman. Currently we take part in many tenders in city administrations bidding to supply cars to deputy Akims (Deputy Mayors), Akims of cities (City Mayors) and Akims of oblasts (regional Governors). There are two tenders for suppliers of cars to ministries. They are not over yet, so I cannot provide any details. The car costs $50 thousand and up (depending on the package). It would be very pleasant for us if the ministers, especially the head of our Ministry (Transport and Communications Minister), drive our cars. However, our cars are a little costly and that’s why the pricing policy and the amount of budget money play a bid role in the choice of a vehicle for our minister. President recommended this car to Agriculture Minister Mamytbekov and the latter personally took a test drive and promised to consider buying our car for his personal use,” Andrey Lavrentywv, General Director of Allur Auto group of companies, told Kazakhstan Defense Minister during a presentation of Kazakhstan-made cars and special-purpose vehicles. Kazakhstan Minister of Industry and New Technologies Asset Issekeshev was the first minister to switch to a Kazakhstan-made car. The Ministry’s press-service confirmed that the Minister was happy with his new car. By Danial Okassov
