Tengrinews.kz – An unknown virus causing coughing with blood and high fever has emerged in Russia, according to Russian media reports.
Specifically, the Telegram channel SHOT reported that infected individuals have been suffering for weeks from a high fever and severe coughing with blood, while their COVID-19 and flu tests come back negative.
According to the publication, patients initially feel mild discomfort, but after a few days, their condition worsens: they become bedridden, experience fevers up to 39°C, and have a strong cough.
One of the infected individuals shared that the coughing persisted even after several days of illness and taking medication, and tests for coronavirus and other respiratory infections were negative.
Journalists noted that doctors have not yet been able to identify what exactly the patients are infected with.
It is reported that specialists from Rospotrebnadzor have taken reports of this unknown virus under control.
Doctor of Medical Sciences Viktor Zuev, in an interview with Argumenty i Fakty, advised wearing masks due to the appearance of the unknown virus.
"Right now, we need to do everything that should be done even when there's a known viral pathogen around. In this case, we’re seeing an outbreak of a viral illness of unknown origin. First of all, make sure to wear a mask. It's even becoming fashionable now," said the virologist.
The expert also recommended staying indoors unless necessary, avoiding crowded places, and following all hygiene practices.
