Tengrinews.kz - President-elect Donald Trump will unblock the social network TikTok in the USA on the day of his inauguration. He wrote about this on his social media account.
He stated that he would likely grant the company a postponement of the app's ban in the US, which was recently supported by the Supreme Court.
"I will issue an executive order on Monday to extend the period of time before the law's prohibitions take effect, so that we can make a deal to protect our national security," Trump wrote.
According to him, half of TikTok should belong to the USA.
"I would like the United States to have a 50% ownership position in a joint venture. By doing this, we save TikTok, keep it in good hands, and allow it to stay up. Without U.S. approval, there is no TikTok. With our approval, it is worth hundreds of billions of dollars - maybe trillions," Trump emphasized.
Trump's comments came after the outgoing Biden administration passed the decision on this issue to the next administration, while TikTok called for more "clarity and certainty" so that American owners of the service would not face legal risks.
Some publications speculated that Trump was simply afraid of the public's reaction. As the media reports, thousands of calls were made to 911 across the country today. People complained of panic, unstable mental health, and other unexpected consequences after TikTok was shut down.
