Tengrinews.kz – White House Chief Donald Trump announced that in two weeks, the U.S. will begin selling so-called "gold cards," granting the right to live and work in America and paving the way for U.S. citizenship, according to RBC.
According to Trump, the price of the gold card will be around five million dollars.
"We’re going to be selling a gold card. You have a green card. This is a gold card. We’re going to be putting a price on that card of about $5 million, and that’s going to give you green card privileges, plus it’s going to be a route to citizenship. And wealthy people will be coming into our country by buying this card," Trump said, speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Tuesday, February 25.
Trump expects that millions of these cards will be sold. "Legally, it’s absolutely legitimate," the U.S. president emphasized.
When asked whether he was ready to sell gold cards to Russian oligarchs, Trump replied: "Yeah, possibly. I know some Russian oligarchs that are very nice people."
U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick clarified that the golden card will replace the government’s EB-5 immigration visa program. At the same time, the current U.S. EB-5 visa program for foreign investors will be discontinued, the Trump administration noted.
