Tengrinews.kz – U.S. President Donald Trump once again stated that the United States won World War II and called for recognition that Russia helped them in this victory.
Donald Trump claimed that Russia’s losses (most likely referring to the USSR – ed.) amounted to 51 million people. He emphasized that these losses must not be forgotten.
“We are the only ones who don’t celebrate it (the victory in World War II – ed.). We were the ones who won the war. Russia helped. To be fair, they lost 51 million people. People will say, ‘Oh, he’s defending Russia.’ But they lost 51 million people. And you know, we cannot forget that,” said the American leader while answering reporters’ questions at the White House.
Trump has repeatedly declared that the United States won World War II. He says he drew this conclusion after speaking with leaders of other countries.
According to Trump, he also discussed the victory over fascism with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The American president claimed that the Red Army allegedly lost millions — “51 million” — but it was the United States that “won the war.”
As a reminder, in early May Trump declared May 8 as the official date for celebrating Victory Day in World War II. According to him, May 8, 1945, marks the acceptance of Germany’s unconditional surrender by the Allies.
