Tengrinews.kz – Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev commented on the plane crash involving an Azerbaijan Airline (AZAL) aircraft near Aktau, citing Minval.
The outlet reported that during his visit to the United States, the head of state gave an interview to American television channel Fox News. Aliyev spoke about relations with Russia and the crash of the AZAL plane in December 2024.
He noted that Azerbaijan does not consider the incident to have been a deliberate attack.
“Our only demand was the recognition of this fact, punishment of those responsible for the crime, and full payment of compensation,” the president added.
Earlier, on August 7, Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev stated that the final report on the investigation into the crash of the AZAL passenger plane near Aktau could be published in a few months. He promised that by the end of the year, the government commission he chairs would meet all requirements “to the letter, to the point.”
To recap, an Embraer 190 passenger plane operated by AZAL, flying from Baku to Grozny, crashed on the morning of December 25, 2024, near Aktau in western Kazakhstan. On board were 67 people, including five crew members. Thirty-eight were killed, and 29 survived.
