Tengrinews.kz – Irish airline Ryanair has announced new rules: now, for unruly behavior on board, a passenger may face a fine of £500 (almost 350,000 tenge), according to Mirror.
The low-cost carrier has introduced strict measures against disruptive passengers. Anyone removed from a flight for aggressive behavior will now have to pay a minimum fine of £500. In some cases, the amount may be even higher depending on the outcome of the incident.
"Passengers expect to travel in a comfortable and stress-free environment with an on-time arrival, free from unnecessary disruption caused by a tiny number of unruly passengers. While this is an industry-wide issue affecting all airlines, Ryanair is committed to tackling unruly passenger behaviour for the benefit of its passengers and crew, and will continue to pursue disruptive passengers for civil damages, but at a minimum, they will now be issued with a £500 fine," the airline stated.
Onboard incidents pose problems not only for passengers but also for the crew. Sometimes such conflicts result in emergency landings. In April, a flight was forced to land due to a disruptive passenger, who was later ordered to pay over £2,500 (approximately 1.7 million tenge) in damages.
In May, a woman was removed from a flight after reportedly banging her head against the door and windows. Although rare, such incidents occur across all airlines.
The company emphasized its goal of creating a calm environment for everyone, especially on flights with tourist groups, which often involve alcohol. The new policy is intended as a warning: offenders risk not only fines but also potential legal action.
