Tengrinews.kz - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a statement on live television following Iran's massive missile attack, citing The Times of Israel.

"This evening, Iran made a big mistake - and it will pay for it. Iran's attack failed and did not achieve its goals. It was thwarted thanks to Israel’s air defense system, which is the most advanced in the world," Netanyahu said, also expressing gratitude to the U.S. for its support.

According to the Israeli Prime Minister, the Iranian regime does not understand Tel Aviv's determination to defend itself and retaliate against its enemies.

"Probably those in Tehran who do not understand this. They will understand, whoever attacks us — we will attack him," Netanyahu warned. He also stated that Israel is fighting "the axis of evil" and called on the “forces of light in the world” to unite against Tehran.

In turn, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, stated that the decision to carry out retaliatory strikes and unexpected attacks now lies with Israel.

"We will choose when to collect the price, and prove our precise and surprising attack capabilities, in accordance with the guidance of the political echelon," Halevi said.

Danny Danon, Israel's permanent representative to the United Nations, stated that Tehran revealed its true nature with its attack on Israel.

"The Islamic regime in Iran has now shown the world its true face. This is a terrorist state. Iran will soon feel the consequences of their actions. The response will be painful," he told reporters.

The IDF promised that Israel's combat aviation would carry out retaliatory strikes on targets in the Middle East tonight.

On the evening of October 1, Iran launched several hundred ballistic and cruise missiles at Israel. According to the Jerusalem Post, there were about 500. ABC News reported is expected to launch 240 to 250 missiles in two waves. An air alert sounded across the country.
