Tengrinews.kz – Russian mountaineer Natalia Nagovitsina, who went missing on Victory Peak (Pik Pobedy) in Kyrgyzstan, managed to send her final words to her son before disappearing. This was reported on September 17 by her friend Liya Popova, citing URA.RU.

According to Popova, just before communication was lost, Nagovitsyna asked to tell her son Mikhail that she was delayed in the mountains. Later, her son published a video showing his mother inside a tent on Victory Peak. In a social media post, he appealed for the rescue operation to be resumed.

Shortly afterward, a gray backpack was found near the tent, leading to speculation that the climber may have attempted to descend the mountain on her own.

An eight-minute drone video taken on September 2 shows a snow-covered tent and a backpack nearby — without signs of snowfall on it. This backpack had not appeared in any earlier footage.

Some mountaineers suggested that Nagovitsyna may have left the tent on her own, but such a scenario is considered highly unlikely. Experienced climbers commented on the case during a broadcast on NTV.

Experts noted that such cases are almost unheard of in mountaineering. They don’t rule out that the woman may have wandered off in a state of confusion due to oxygen deprivation.

“Theoretically it’s possible, but in practice, this has never happened. It’s extremely unlikely — 99 percent it’s not the case,” one expert said.

On August 12, Russian citizen Natalya Nagovitsyna injured her leg while descending from Victory Peak. Other climbers nearby helped her settle under a rock ledge at an altitude of 7,100 meters, leaving her with a sleeping bag, high-altitude tent, water, and some food before they descended to organize an evacuation.

However, during the descent, one of the climbers — an Italian national — died from health complications. His body remains at an altitude of 6,900 meters.

On August 16, a military helicopter carrying rescuers and mountaineers was sent to Victory Peak but made a hard landing, resulting in injuries among the crew.

On August 19, a drone flew to 7,100 meters and captured video of Nagovitsyna inside the tent. Rescuers at the Southern Inylchek base camp confirmed she was showing signs of life, prompting the launch of a second rescue mission.

However, on August 23, due to the injury of the rescue team leader and bad weather, the climbers were forced to return to base.
