Tengrinews.kz – Jurors in the case of rapper and producer Sean Combs, who is accused of several serious crimes including human trafficking and involvement in a criminal conspiracy, have stated they have reached consensus on several key charges. This was reported by media outlets citing court documents and legal analysts.

What the jury decided in the P. Diddy case

At the July 1 hearing, according to the Daily Mail, jurors informed federal judge Arun Subramanian that they had reached unanimous agreement on charges of human trafficking involving force, fraud, or coercion, as well as two counts of transportation for the purpose of prostitution. These charges are linked to testimonies from Combs’ former girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, and another woman whose identity remains confidential in court records (referred to as "Jane").

However, on another, the most high-profile charge — participation in a criminal organization (racketeering conspiracy) — the jurors have not yet been able to reach a unanimous decision. In a note submitted to the judge, they stated that there are "those with unpersuadable opinions on both sides of the issue" among the panel.

Legal analyst Elie Honig suggested that this might indicate the jury has already found Combs guilty on the other charges.

"It is hard for me to fathom, logically, Jake... that there are multiple jurors who basically say he is guilty of racketeering, but he’s not guilty of all the other crimes — the other sex trafficking crimes and interstate prostitution crimes. So honestly, that would be the conversation I’d be having right now if I were in the prosecution room. I would take some heart in that. I would be encouraged by that as a prosecutor — that that suggests we might have guilty verdicts on the other counts," — said Honig.

P. Diddy's position

According to reports from the courtroom, Combs appeared visibly anxious when his lawyers, having received news of a partial verdict, urgently began discussing next steps. Ultimately, his legal team stated that they did not agree to a partial verdict, prompting Judge Subramanian to instruct the jury to resume deliberations.

When will the final decision in the P. Diddy case be reached?

Shortly afterward, however, the jurors informed the court that deliberations for the day were complete. The judge dismissed them until the next morning, urging them to keep an “open mind” moving forward.

If Combs is found guilty of participating in a criminal organization (racketeering), he could face life imprisonment. The next court session and continuation of deliberations are scheduled for Wednesday morning.

What is a partial verdict?

A partial verdict occurs when jurors are able to reach unanimous agreement on some charges, but remain divided on others.

In criminal trials, especially those involving multiple charges, jurors consider each count separately. If they agree (guilty or not guilty) on one or more charges but are deadlocked on others, they can inform the court of a so-called partial verdict.

In Sean Combs’s case, this means:

  • The jury has already reached a verdict on the charges of human trafficking involving force, fraud, or coercion, as well as on counts of transportation for the purpose of prostitution. The nature of the verdict (guilty or not guilty) has not yet been disclosed.
  • On the racketeering conspiracy charge, the jury remains undecided. In a note to the judge, they stated that their opinions on this charge are deeply and irreconcilably divided.
  • The judge has the authority to accept a partial verdict if both parties agree and continue proceedings on the remaining charges. However, in this case, Combs's defense refused this option, so the court instructed the jury to resume deliberations until they reach a decision on all charges.
