The County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner stated that as of Thursday evening, it had received notification of 10 deaths related to the fire.
"No names were released by the medical examiner. All cases are pending identification and legal next of kin notification," the department said.
Several large wildfires have been raging in Los Angeles County for several days. Residents are being evacuated from their homes. Tens of thousands of people have been evacuated and lost their property.
"Firefighters made progress as Santa Ana winds weakened, but gusts picked up across the region as the day went on. Officials also launched a major response to a new fire near the border of LA and Ventura counties, which prompted evacuations. Residents are also contending with polluted air and other hazardous conditions," CNN reports.
