Tengrinews.kz - Shares of Boeing Co. (BA) have taken a sharp dive following a tragic plane crash in South Korea.

According to the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), the American aerospace giant’s stock dropped from $180.72 to $173.10. Final trading results on the U.S. market have yet to be confirmed.

On December 29, a Boeing 737-800 operated by Jeju Air crashed during landing at Muan Airport, South Korea. The flight, en route from Bangkok to Muan, overshot the runway and collided with a barrier before catching fire.

Of the 181 people on board, only two survived — a male and a female crew member.

This incident marks the deadliest aviation disaster in South Korea’s history. Acting President Choi Sang Mok declared a seven-day national mourning period from December 29 to January 4.
