Tengrinews.kz - Popular blogger and philanthropist MrBeast, known for his grandiose projects and generous charity events, intends to take an unprecedented step - to buy TikTok to save the platform from possible blocking in the United States, and how much will the possible purchase cost him.
On January 13, in his X profile, popular blogger and entrepreneur MrBeast shared an ambitious idea: to buy TikTok to avoid its blocking in the United States
"Okay fine, I’ll buy Tik Tok so it doesn’t get banned," said the American blogger on the X social network.
It should be noted that billionaires have already approached the American influencer, offering cooperation.
"Unironically I've had so many billionaires reach out to me since I tweeted this, let's see if we can pull this off," Mr Beast said in a subsequent post on X.
Why sell TikTok
In April 2024, the United States passed a bill that could lead to a ban on TikTok. The Senate supported a package of four laws, one of which requires the Chinese company ByteDance, which owns TikTok, to sell the app to a foreign company. Nine months were allocated for this.
Otherwise, the app will simply disappear from American app stores, and users will lose access to it. The deadline expires on January 19, 2025, making this date key for the future of the platform.
How much is TikTok worth
According to The Wall Street Journal, in the fourth quarter of 2024, ByteDance, the owner of the popular TikTok app, continues to be one of the most valuable private companies in the world, valuing itself at about $300 billion.
In addition, it was previously reported that Chinese officials are in preliminary talks about a potential sale of TikTok's operations in the United States to billionaire Elon Musk.
