Situation is under control in Zhanaozen: Interior Ministry

The situation in Zhanaozen and the region is stable and under control of law-enforcement authorities, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Kazakhstan Interior Ministry’s press-service.A combined group of Interior Department officers of several Kazakhstan oblasts, militarymen of internal army, Defense Ministry, Emergency Situation Ministry and National Security Commission’s border service. Patrolling is enhanced, roadblocks are functioning, state buildings and facilities are under protection.Earlier Tengrinews.kz English reported that 40 participants and organizers of Zhanaozen clashes were identified, 18 of them were arrested. Besides, 10 people were arrested in relation to Shetpe riots.The Public Commission talked to the apprehended people. “There were no complains or statements about tortures, beating or other illegal actions of police officers,” Interior Ministry stated.
