All state authorities of Mangistau oblast and some major private companies have cancelled their corporate New Year parties, LADA reports. The decision to cancel the parties was made verbally. Superior bodies issued no written instructions. New Mangistau oblast Akim (Governor) Baurzhan Mukhametzhanov commented this development. He said that the residents of Aktau will traditionally gather on the Yntymak Square in the center of the city to congratulate each other on the New Year. However, this year there will be no stage, artists’ performances and holiday concert. “Let’s celebrate this New Year more unpretentiously, because of the tragic events and the state of emergency in Zhanaozen. It is not right, if we have fun when people have suffered in one of the large towns of our region,” Mukhametzhanov noted. He stated that New Year is a family holiday and this year it has to be celebrated with the family and friends.
